The skill of a facilitator can be crucial to the group dynamic, to the feeling of safety and being held, with support and healthy boundaries. I take the image of my cat with her kittens, staying separate from their playground, appearing to be snoozing, but watching her whiskers and ears very alert to the changes in energy. She only intervened when necessary with a minor intervention which kept the play-fighting within the limits of play. The other role I find myself playing as a facilitator is that of a mirror, reflecting back to the player what maybe they aren’t aware of themselves or they don’t validate what is present.
I so love to be present with people as they become more of themselves.
